90 per cent of cocoa comes from small farms in developing countries in West Africa, South East Asia and Latin America. Cocoa farming families earn as little as US$30-110 per family member per year. Children are by necessity workers and will rarely attend school. As a consumer you can make a difference and held farmers earn a decent living by buying Fairtrade chocolate.
